Located in Torre Annunziata (the old Oplontis), The Villa of Poppea is a beautiful Roman Villa, owned by Sabina Poppea, the Emperor's Nero'wife.
Totally disappeared under meters of ashes and stones during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in the 79 A.D, the Villa was finally excavated in 1964 and then listed by the Unesco as a World Heritage site.
The Villa offers the visitors an overview of the lifestyle of a wealthy family of the Roman Empire, it is surrounded by a beautiful garden and its large rooms are covered with spectacular and very colorful paintings made by important artists of the time, who surely knew how to use the right perspective.
The Oplontis Villa has a private thermal bath, beautiful bedrooms with a sea view, a huge pool and dining rooms facing the gardens!
The tour of the Villa of Poppea (Oplontis) will last no more then 1 hour and a half, our suggestion is to combine this tour with a visit to the beautiful town of Sorrento or Positano.
