Hercolaneum is one of the sites listed by the UNESCO. It is smaller than Pompeii but rich in things to see.
The town of Hercolaneum was the favorite location of Rich Roman People. The position was amazing,(overlooking the bay of Naples), the weather warm and the vegetation so rich.
Totally buried under about 60 feet of volcanic material during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in the 79 A.D, Hercolaneum is now one of the best preserved archaeological site of the Campania region.
You will visit the beautiful Roman Houses full of works of art, frescoes, mosaics, and sculptures ( the house of the black hall, the house of Neptune and Amphitrite, the house of Telephus' relief ).
In the House of The Tramezzo di legno, you can even see pieces of forniture, carbonized during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius , like shelves, doors, tables.
Of course, walking with your Licensed Tour Guide you will certainly visit the Thermal Bath (the ancient SPA), still covered with original mosaics.
At the end of the Tour you will see the ancient marina where the archeologists found 300 skeletons, the bodies of people who died trying to escape during the terrible eruption of the Vesuvius in the 79 A.D
Herculaneum is not as big as Pompeii, in a 1 hour and a half, you will be able to see most of the ancient town and certainly all the highlights
